Center Projects
The Center is one of 52 nationally selected US Economic Development Administration centers, and engages in the following types of projects.
Capacity Building
- Entrepreneur Technical Assistance Initiative
The Center accesses, organizes, coordinates and directs the university’s expertise and research capabilities to provide entrepreneurs with technical assistance.
- Entrepreneur Capacity Building Initiative
The Center provides competent, caring, and confidential ongoing support to projects with a high potential for success that require targeted mentoring or coaching assistance. The Center collaborates with existing entrepreneurial efforts to add value to training development efforts.
- Basic Economic Development Course Initiative
The Center delivers a Basic Economic Development Course to an audience of elected officials, educators, economic development professionals, and community leaders.
- Advanced Economic Development Course Initiative
The Center offers an advanced economic development course in accordance with the International Economic Development Council accreditation requirements.
Applied Research
The Center engages in basic and applied research to assist its clients in making improved decisions.
- Alaska Trends Publication – The Center produces for the Alaska Business Monthly magazine data, research, and analysis for a monthly published “Alaska Trends” article.
- Conferences, Meetings, Training, and Outreach – The Center director or staff speaks at conferences, meetings and other similar venues as requested to share research outcomes, economic development best practice, and findings.
- Economic Development Engagement – The Center director and/or staff actively participates in public and private led initiatives to support greater statewide economic development outreach and activity.
- Publication of Outcomes– The Center develops educational materials. Final reports, generic business plans and training curricula resulting from research, technical assistance activities, or literature reviews are published and made available through the Center Web site.
