Welfare to Work
Welfare to work initiatives can include job creation, micro-business enterprises, business training and assistance to welfare recipients who are starting new businesses. A growing number of economic development organizations offer programs that provide access to start-up loans, business training, and technical assistance to welfare recipients who are creating new businesses.
Technology
Providing technology assistance to community-based and school-based learning centers so that they can keep pace with current innovations. Technology projects will also address the need to increase computer literacy among youth and adults in order to enhance their employability.
Economic Development
Economic Development - research, organization and development of activities designed to generate income and enhance the economic potential of low-income urban or rural areas. Member's activities might include neighborhood economic revitalization; development and expansion of community development credit unions; housing rehabilitation and assistance in housing loan packaging; and entrepreneurial development and management training for low-income individuals attempting to enter the business sector.
